Just one man’s shirt from the closet or the thrift store can be reassembled to create an upcycled new apron for women or men. Instructions and related pattern pieces are provided for style one, a smock that cleverly fastens at the
base of the neck with a buttoned tab closure created from one of the shirt cuffs. The extra long ties can be wrapped to the front or tied in a bow behind. Your choice of fabric is used to
form bias binding to finish the edges while a contrasting fabric is used to create two large slanted pockets to hold essentials on the front. Touches of decorative zigzag stitching
accentuate its heritage as a man’s shirt while adding a feminine flair. The second style, with detail options, is offered in three sizes to suit your stature. All are cut from the front of the shirt, with the button front placket taking center stage. A large pocket spanning the lower half
of the apron can be stitched to comprise two or three separate compartments. Select a contrasting print or complementary solid fabric to form lengths of bias binding to encase the
edges and extend beyond to form ties at the waist. Fun metal hardware in an assortment of shapes is used to anchor the bias binding neckties to the apron front. For an optional
whimsical touch, the shirt’s chest pocket is reassigned to the outside of the large front pocket, placed at an amiable angle and accented with a contrasting running stitch. Smock size is determined by the size of shirt you chose to upcycle. Apron Sizes: SXL
