The Gardening Quilter

Lena Puryear grew up on a family farm in Virginia and currently lives on a farm with her husband and two kids. Farming has always been a part of her life and has fostered her love of growing flowers. 

Lena attended her first quilt class with her grandmothers at her church when she was in high school. One of her grandmothers decided that first day that she preferred sewing out of necessity rather than a hobby, and she stuck to gardening. Her other grandmother continued to quilt and passed along so many lessons.  In addition to designing quilt patterns, Lena enjoys quilting with her mom, aunt, sister-in-law, and kids. Her patterns feature artwork, and she enjoys seeing the process come together whether it’s kids artwork or adult artwork.
