Welcome to Blueberry Backroads! I’m Sara, and I’m the pattern designer.

As a kid, I loved to draw and dreamed of becoming an artist. In 2007 my mom encouraged me to design a Christmas ornament pattern for her quilt shop, and Blueberry Backroads was born.

I live in Minneapolis with with Tony, Betsy, Thomas, and our dog Stevie Nicks. We spend a lot of time outdoors visiting parks, taking long walks around the neighborhood, reading books, and playing games. I’m learning to play the violin and love yoga, nights out with my friends, and playing outside with my family. I’m fortunate to be able to stay home with them and still run my business.

Over the years I’ve expanded what started as all embroidery into appliqué, a little quilting, and working with wool. I still love to draw and find handwork so relaxing. Set me up in the evening with a little handwork and I’m a happy camper.
