"The Quilting Bee's" name is taken from the busy honey bee. A quilting bee was held for the purpose of hand quilting a finished quilt top. Women of all ages vied to be asked to participate rather than being relegated to the kitchen to make lunch. Heaven forbid you should miss the fun of gossiping and exchanging secret matters of the heart. Underneath the quilt top and chatter the little girls would play with their dolls.
