How to Use the Quilt Backing Calculator
1. Enter the finished width and length of your quilt.
2. Choose how much extra backing you want on each side (4" is common; ask your longarm quilter what they need).
3. Choose standard quilting cotton or 108" wide backing.
4. Select Calculate Backing to see the backing size, how to piece it and how much to buy.
Please note: Calculations use a 40" usable width of fabric (WOF) and ¼" seams unless you choose otherwise. Results are a helpful guide; patterns, fabrics and cutting vary, so allow a little extra.
