Shiny Happy World

Wendi Gratz spent over twenty years working in the children’s book industry, and you can see that influence in all the cute faces she designs! She lives in beautiful Portland, Oregon where she designs quilting and sewing patterns especially for beginners.  

Wendi is a self-taught sewist, and she learned before there was an internet. She struggled with the instructions in traditional patterns and sewing books because they assumed so much knowledge that she didn’t have, and she had an irregular schedule which made in-person classes impossible. Then she discovered the show Simply Quilts and it was like the whole world opened up. Alex Anderson was in her living room showing her how to quilt and it was all so clear! She aims to provide that experience for her customers. She never releases a pattern until she has videos teaching every single skill needed for the project, so every pattern becomes a little mini workshop. You can do it!
