Donna Westerkamp

Donna Westerkamp is an internationally-featured quilt designer known for her modern yet traditionally inspired quilt patterns. Based in Lombard, Illinois, Donna has built a reputation for creating designs that are both visually striking and easy to follow, earning praise from quilters worldwide.

Her journey in the creative arts began with cloth doll-making, where she sold her original designs to major magazines, many of which featured her work on their covers. She later transitioned into freelance sewing and craft design, collaborating with Ben Franklin magazine and Lee Wards stores. As a mother of six, Donna found solace in quilting, hand-stitching pieces while waiting at doctor’s offices and sports fields.

Donna's quilt designs have been published in Irish Quilting Magazine, AQS Calendar, and The Wicked Book by Cherrywood Fabrics. She has also designed patterns for local quilt shops and online stores, including her own Etsy shop, DWQuiltPatterns. In 2008, she expanded her expertise by launching a long-arm quilting business, offering custom free-motion quilting services.

A dedicated member of the quilting community, Donna is part of the Faithful Circle Quilt Guild and has served as Past President of the Northern Illinois Long Arm Guild. Her passion for quilting continues to inspire both beginners and seasoned quilters alike.
