The Sawtooth Pouch began as a quiet rebellion. I was listening to a quilting podcast when the hosts said they thought brown was the hardest color to use in patchwork. To me, brown has always been one of the most grounding, beautiful colors to quilt with—so I set out to prove them wrong. This pouch leans into earthy tones, pairing crisp sawtooth triangles with a clean finish that feels both classic and modern. It’s small enough to tuck in your tote and sturdy enough to stand on its own—a little everyday carry that celebrates one of my favorite colors.

The Sawtooth Pouch is a weekend-friendly make with straightforward piecing and zipper installation. The front and back feature a rhythmic sawtooth layout built from half-square triangles; the quilting adds texture, while the lining keeps the inside neat and tidy. Use earthy solids, naturally dyed fabrics, or a mix of contrasts—this design gives brown its moment to shine, but it works beautifully in any palette.
