This quilt was made as a quilt of valor. Quilts of Valor are quilts made for our servicemen and women who have served our country in the armed forces. In fact the Quilts of Valor Foundation states the mission of the foundation is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor. This quilt is easy to make and can be made by a beginner. It is also a good scrappy quilt if you keep the scraps within the same value. There are two basic elements used in the quilt, a stripe strip and a star block.
